In the spring, when the snow melts, the trails around this quaint mountain fill with eager mountain bikers scoring long downhill descents and fun but challenging climbs. Mountain Bike Trails - Around Steamboat Springs


Buffalo Pass To Mountain View Trail
Directions: Buffalo Pass is located 13 miles from Steamboat Springs. From Steamboat, take 6th St. north, make a right on Missouri Ave. then a left on N. Park Ave. Take this north until it turns into Routt Co. 38. About 2 miles north you will hit a FR 60 on the right and a sign which points to Buffalo Pass.

Description:
This trail is great for fast and smooth downhill descents and easy climbing sections coupled with a few technical sections.


Zig Zag Mountain Bike Trail
Directions: Go to the Gondola which is off of Mt Werner Circle to Gondola Square. Park in the garage. Hop on the gondola.

Description: This is a super fun downhill accent with very little effort! Take the gondola up with your bike (option is a grueling climb up the trail). The trail starts down the "Why Not" ski trail. From there the trail is double track, road and single track down the mountain. There is are sections with rolling short hills, switchbacks and awesome scenery.


Hot Springs Trail - Steamboat Springs
Directions: From downtown Steamboat Springs, take US-40 west about 1.8 miles to Routt County 129, turn right (north) towards Steamboat Lake. A little past Mad Creek, park in the trailhead lot. The trail is back south along the left side of the road.

Description: From County 129, climb up the gravel/dirt road. There are 2 gates across the road (re-chain the gates). Continue climbing up the road - several switchbacks.
